Softening Hard Water to Soft Water for Restaurants and Homes

One of the most important element in our lives is water. In fact, its importance can be seen from just how much of the earth is covered by water. A whole lot of the water we use on a daily basis originates from these global water source – the rivers, the rainfall, the sea, the water fountains – and this is one of nature’s main pointers to sustainability of the world for the current and future generations. That pointer would be that for recycling our resources. The way nature does it borders on the brilliant, and it is unfortunate that we seems to do the level best that we can to destroy things instead. From polluting the air we breath, dirtying the water we drink and right down to clearing all semblance of greens that dot the earth.

Of late, however, more and more people are realizing the flaws of such a selfish lifestyle, and many are taking positive steps in correcting whatever mistakes our forefathers and we did to mother earth, but as often as the case would be, things are never enough. This is true especially when it comes to our water supply. With the very source of our daily water needs polluted, much of the supply we get through our taps had to undergo extensive treatment to ensure that it is relatively clean.  How many of us would flip if we see murky water flowing through our taps even if for one hour or so? Most would I daresay and that is one reason why more and more household are taking the pro-active steps of applying a second and even third layer of cleaning with simple or even elaborate  water filter systems that would fulfill our exact needs and requirements.

These needs and requirements are different from one home to another, and more so for businesses as compared to the ordinary homes. Water filters for restaurants, for example, would normally be at the main connecting pipes to provide a good economies in using the apparatus in filtering all the sediments that would have escaped the water treatment plants. In most cases, the water from the pipes should be safe to drink in small quantities, but these are really hard waters which affects the taste of the food restaurants cook for their customers.  For those restaurants whose main business is catering water filters plays an important role in ridding the often slightly unpleasant smell whenever we use a whole lot of water to  either clean, wash or cook mass amount of foodstuffs.

The way water filters work is that they sort of softens the hardness in the treated water so that not only will the water tastes purer, there will also be less impact on the many kitchen equipment that the restaurants uses especially as sediments would over time build up in its volume enough to be a hindrance to the workings of your equipments.  For many of the bigger restaurants, a good advise would be for a two water filter system to be adopted so that there would be less chance and risk of a discontinuation in the water supply should one of the water filter cartridges reaches its maximum capacity in cleaning and softening the source, then the other cartridge would go into operation.

There should also be mini water filters within the kitchen aside from the main water softeners at the mains especially since cooking use normally much smaller amounts in clean water and it would sometimes be an overkill to apply elaborate (and highly expensive!) water filter cartridges to clean up water used for cleaning the vegetables, chicken and meat as opposed to those used for drinks, soups and mixing, for example. These smaller water filters should be linked to the cooking taps in the kitchen so that the filtering process is on needs basis. This is especially important as these would be the more complicated water filter systems one would come across. The water flow would also be at a more leisurely pace as the need is much lesser than that for the main taps.

When it comes to catering for whole house water filters, the requirement in soft water is far less specific as compared to restaurants. The main bulk in the usage of water at homes are for cleaning up and washing purposes. As such, owners could either opt for a double tier water filter systems with a main water softener at the main pipes and smaller, individual water filter units at the points where they would be needed the most; the kitchen, the pantry and, perhaps, the bathroom faucets. Either that or owners could just opt for the latter only and this should also suffice.  A two tier whole house water filters setup would help clear whatever sediments and other unwanted pollutants missed by water treatment plants from even entering the home’s water pipes and as such reducing the level of sedimentation which might just lead to rusting and clogging at certain points or joints over time.
